Full Version: GoDaddy's Expensive Paid Domain Names

When GoDaddy was relatively new, registering a site domain name (such as gocomplain.xyz) cost $9.95 a year. The rates have increased to $19.95 for most top level domain (TLD) name extensions (including .com, .net, .org, etc). ICANN is partially to blame for increased rates because that was their solution to people who buy up domain names in bulk, sit on them, and wait to resell them to individuals and companies desperate to own these domains.

GoDaddy used to be one of the cheapest, but now, they are just greedy. There are cheaper alternatives out there today. One such alternative that I like to use is 1&1. However, they have some issues that need to be addressed in their panel for advanced users, but still, domains are cheaper there at $14.99 a year with free private registration (something GoDaddy does NOT offer unless you pay more).

Do your research and find a cheaper alternative when you can.
The best domain registrar I've found so far is NameSilo. They're cheap, have a easy-to-use and advanced control panel, they're website looks good and is a pleasure to use, and all domains come with free private registration.

Check them out.

I use them for all of my domains (including this one) now! I'm so happy I'm no longer a GoDaddy or 1&1 customer!
